This was how some of took a shower. Note the jersey can, at the bottom of the photo. You would carry the water in a jersey can, pour it in the canvas bag ,(which had a shower head attached to the bottom), get under , lather up and rinse of before you ran out of water, If you were quick enough.

These 3 pictures are of Saigon on the morning after Tet 68. We were loaded with troops to land on the Embassy, as we were told it was being over-run. One of those buildings in the photo is the roof top of the American Embassy were we Landed , one chopper at a time.

This photo is some LRRP’s getting prepared for a single ship insertion. We would fly low level , solo, not to attract attention, to some spot on the map, drop them off, and they were to walk back. Usually in 4-5 days.

This picture was taken in 1966 at the DeKalb County Airport, just before I joined the Army. I had not a clue where I would be a year later. At the time all I wanted to do was fly.

I believe this was my bird before Major Balbirdie took it over and had the condor painted on the nose. It was painted on by my the 1st Lt. that flew pilot while the Maj. was A/C.
